Introduction
A standard Blackbox uses a Duet IR probe for the Z axis end-stop and mesh bed leveling. This guide will cover the use of a high precision mechanical switch in its place. The ability to use a simple switch is unique to tool-changing, as we are able to mount the switch at the lowest point of the X-carriage when a tool is not mounted.
The Honeywell switch used in this guide is available at KB3D HERE

Download the STEP and STL pack HERE.
-
Print the switch mount relevant for your build.
-
Use the "standard" mount for builds using the Nema 8 stepper motor for tool locking
-
Use the "RemoteToolLock" mount for builds with the optional cable driven tool locking feature.
-
Print orientations are shown to the left.

-
Insert (2) M2 heatset inserts into Print_ZSwitchMount.
-
Solder a length of wires to loose switch. The Honeywell switch referenced in this guide is made for soldered connections. Typically only 2 wires (GND and NO OR GND and NC) are needed for operation. This will depend on your controller and preferences.
-
Orient the switch as shown and secure using (2) M2x8mm fasteners.

The X, Y and Z offsets are important for proper calibration. Use the following values as a base-line for fine-tuning the offset of the switch to the nozzle. This offset is key to nozzle alignment via TAMV (HERE) and mesh bed leveling.
-
X Offset = 13.6mm
-
Y Offset = 62.95mm
-
The Z offset will vary based on your hot end/nozzle combination.
